This was already one of our top choices, given all its inclusive fringe bennies. Now, after a recent top-to-bottom renovation, it’s pretty dazzling in a Hilton-brand, cookie-cutter sort of way. Speaking of cookies, they’re among the freebies here. Add a full hot breakfast buffet; the perfunctory but perfectly good free “social” dinner (think lasagna or fried chicken, salad bar, and wine or beer!); indoor pool—and the savings really add up. Plus, the XL all-suite rooms have a living room, microwave, and fridge, so if you’d rather spend on sights than tastes and don’t need luxury, decamping here will save you tons on dining out (and on transportation, given the convenient location). The fresh decor is simple but well turned-out, and the exterior has plenty of historical appeal so you don’t feel completely “chained” in. When rates are at midrange or lower, it’s a super value, especially for families and extended stays.
