When John Besh's long-time pastry chef Kelly Fields opened her own casual restaurant, we went, ‘natch. And then we went back. Then we tried to lease a table, because we saw no reason to leave. Every Southern-accented food and beverage need is not just covered, but done exceedingly well and with just enough flair—including the cocktails and the coffee (Intelligentsia). We know you like specifics, but seriously, anything containing flour is awesome. So pick whatever bread or pastry item appeals to you. Then get a loaf of the cornbread. Yes, you heard right: a loaf. You can thank us later. Biscuits with crab and hollandaise or classic sausage gravy rock your breakfast. For lunch, get the fried chicken on a housemade Hawaiian roll with jalapeño slaw, or the griddled meat loaf with tomato jam. Or the grilled fig and goat cheese sandwich. Lunch gets crazy busy so a reservation is not unwise. Dinner entrees are less interesting, or maybe we’re just full after eating breakfast and lunch here.
