Billing itself as Nassau’s only music bar, Volume occupies the old Crazy Johnny’s in the east end of Nassau, a few blocks past the bridge to Paradise Island. It is what it says it is: A good bar, filled with plenty of locals along with the tourists, with plenty of music or all stripes—live when they can get is (often Thursdays and Fridays), by the patrons on karaoke Wednesdays, and by aspiring amateurs during Monday’s open mic night (poetry included). Otherwise, DJs spin the beats. Entry is usually free, except when there is a live band (usually $10), an on Tuesday nights for screenings of indie movies ($1). Happy Hour occurs weekdays from 5 to 9pm.
