Billing itself as the “First Straight Friendly” hotel in New York City, the Out proudly waves the rainbow flag. It’s known among non-tourists for one of the best gay nightclubs in town (the 14,000-square-foot XL), and a spa with a steam room that seems perpetually filled with eligible bachelors from around the world. Its only problem may be that it’s been a bit too successful on the nightlife front: Rooms near the disco are too loud for sleeping (so make sure you ask for another location). But when you fall into your bed after all that dancing, it will be a cushy one, in an adequately sized, contemporary-looking room. Unless, that is, you choose one of the Out’s sleep-share rooms, where you get to bunk (in a bunk bed) with one other (perhaps a new friend) for $120–$159 per night.
