Frommer's Review
Just a short stroll from the House of Blues, the Pelican Club is worth investigating. The appetizers are a bit more inventive than the entrees (you could easily make a meal of them), but everything is quite tasty. Escargots come in a tequila garlic butter sauce (which you will probably find yourself sopping up with bread), topped with tiny puff pastries. Oysters are garnished with apple-smoked bacon -- even oysterphobes won't have a problem with these babies. Special salads are served each evening; a recent visit found arugula, Gorgonzola, and apple in balsamic dressing. Tender lamb comes coated in rosemary-flavored bread crumbs with a spicy pepper jelly, and fish is cooked to perfection. Interesting sides such as wild-mushroom bread pudding accompany the entrees. The desserts are certainly standouts. Try the flat (rather than puffy) white-chocolate bread pudding, creamy chocolate pecan pie, or amazing profiteroles filled with coffee ice cream and topped with three sauces.
