This might be heresy to some NOLA residents (although we know just as many who will back us up), but we think the Praline Connection is completely overrated and eminently missable. It's probably riding on sentiment and tradition, so if this review helps shake things up and gets it back into shape, well, then, good. This used to be the place to come for solid, reliable, and even -- once upon a time -- marvelous Creole and soul food. The crowds still come, not noting that what they are getting is sometimes dry and dull. Then again, everyone else has improved their food, so let's hope Praline Connection does, too. And early reports about the superior state of their fried chicken indicate that may well be. And there is always those fried chicken livers with pepper jelly . ..
