Frommer's Review
Thanks to roof damage and some flooding, this hotel needed a complete renovation. It reopened in April 2006, looking essentially the same as it did before. That's a relief: We often forget to recommend this place, but that's a mistake. A little out of the main French Quarter action and a tad closer than some might like to dicey Rampart (though the hotel is entirely safe), the Maison Dupuy, with its seven town houses surrounding a good-size courtyard (and a heated pool), is still warm and inviting. While the rooms aren't remarkable, they are comfortable. Though floor space and balconies (with either courtyard or street views -- the former is quieter) vary, the staff is most friendly and helpful, the courtyard of sufficiently pleasing ambience, and the location -- a quieter end of the Quarter, near a bar with pool tables (a rarity in town) -- puts it right in the middle of the "oh, they've got rooms available? why not?" category. All that, plus a darn good restaurant (Dominique's), makes this worth consideration.
