Westin New Orleans at Canal Place

At the foot of Canal Street, the Westin is technically in the French Quarter -- but not quite of it. It is literally above the Quarter: The grand-scale lobby is on the 11th floor of the Canal Place tower. The views of the Mississippi and French Quarter are unparalleled in the city (and will cost you about $25 more per night; it's worth it!). Rooms are now equipped with the marshmallow delight that is the Westin Heavenly bed. Entirely redone rooms have a boring but clean and fresh contemporary look in neutral colors. Bathrooms are adequately sized, but the tub/shower combo is nothing special, despite the double shower head. The renovated swimming pool has a view of the whole city while the well-equipped gym has up-to-date equipment. It's an easy walk from here to the Convention Center.
