Frommer's Review
A nice little Quarter hotel, better than most (thanks to a combo of location, price, and room quality), though not as good as some (owing to a lack of specific personality and the odd bit of shabbiness despite a recent overhaul). It's generally sedate, except perhaps during Mardi Gras, when the mad gay revelers take over -- as they do everywhere, truth be told. The truly friendly and helpful staff adds a lot of welcoming spirit. If you can score some of the lower-end prices, nab a spot here. Rooms mostly have high ceilings, though some don't have windows, and all have new, comfortable four-poster beds and fresh linens. Some rooms have balconies overlooking the small courtyard that features a pretty saltwater pool (open 24 hr. if guests aren't too rowdy!), and all have the standard amenities of a fine hotel. Note that the Iberville Suite is so large it actually made us laugh out loud -- and we mean that in a good way.
Facilities:
Restaurant; outdoor saltwater pool; free Wi-Fi in public areas; room service; afternoon reception w/cookies and punch

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
