Bourgoyne Guest House

This is an eccentric place with an owner to match. If you dislike stuffy hotels and will happily take things a little worn at the edges (and can live without Wi-Fi) in exchange for a relaxed, hangout atmosphere, come here. Accommodations are arranged around a nicely cluttered courtyard, the right spot to visit and regroup before diving back out onto Bourbon Street (whose main action begins just a few feet away). Studios are adequate little rooms with kitchens and bathrooms that appear grimy but are not (we saw the strong potions housekeeping uses; it's just age). The Green Suite is big and grand, with huge, tall rooms, a second smaller bedroom, a bigger bathroom, a kitchen, and a balcony overlooking Bourbon Street. For price and location, it's a heck of a deal, maybe the best in the Quarter. The first floor can suffer from street noise, depending on the time of year and how far up Bourbon the party travels.
