If you want to see a master potter at work, Shadyside Pottery is an excellent place to stop. Charlie Bohn, who apprenticed in Japan, can be seen at his wheel pretty much all the time. He specializes in the Japanese tradition of raku, a type of pottery that has a "cracked" look. Open most days, though if it's important that you see him, you might call ahead to make sure he hasn't taken a rare day off.
