This serious steakhouse holds down a prime spot on one of Newport's picturesque wharves. This is a white-tablecloth, fancy-meal set-up—a great spot for a special occasion. As befits a place where you can get a luscious 24-oz. porterhouse, the wine list is exceptional. For non-beefeaters, there are plenty of fish choices, too. A favorite is the lobster with corn fritters. Though prices are steep, Sunday evening burgers are a great special, served with a glass of beer or wine for just $22. Every night but Saturday there's a great deal in three-course prix fixe dinners for $29.95, with signatures like prime New York sirloin, veal chop, or even Maine lobster with all the fixings.
