This landmark house's original design exemplifies late-18th-century Southeast American architecture. The pink two-story structure is named for its overhanging and much-photographed balcony. Restored in the 1990s, the house has been returned to its original design, recapturing a historic period. The mahogany staircase inside is thought to have been salvaged from a wrecked ship in the 1800s. When this guide was published, the house was closed for renovations, but might be open by the time of your visit. Call in advance before you go.
