Frommer's Review
The new standard of luxury on the American side -- the Seneca Niagara Hotel -- has some pretty serious restaurant firepower to complement its fancy digs, and the Western Door is the nicest of several great places inside. Walk up the stairs, away from the clanging machines, and you enter a hide-out full of dark woods, romantic candlelight, swirling carpets, and top-quality meats (which you can inspect at the meat counter in the back). Appetizers like the blackened shrimp are worth sampling, but meat is fittingly the real star here: Filets and rib-eyes come perfectly marbled and cooked exactly how you like; the huge slab of prime rib is excellent as well. The usual steakhouse sides are just average, but that's okay, since you'll want to save room for the wonderful and huge desserts, like sweet-potato-glazed cheesecake. The only annoyance is a lack of communication between the two servers who wait on each table, so you may end up repeating every order and request. Still, reserve a table in one of the nooks overlooking the casino floor and you'll truly feel like a high roller.
