Frommer's Review
The big draw to "Sophie's House" is the on-site presence, like a kindly matriarch in charge of a house party, of Sophie Rigon and her husband, Yves. Another strong draw is its location in the heart of Nîmes, within a 5-minute proximity to the Arenas, where "Olé!" resounds as toreadors taunt bulls. The building is viewed by historians as an architectural gem: Built in 1901, with public areas and bedrooms outfitted in furniture crafted in most cases between 1900 and 1930, it resembles a small Venetian palazzo, replete with stained glass and a scattering of marble columns in the entrance area. The lovely garden is loaded with old-species roses and irises, and even features an open-air swimming pool. The rooms aren't particularly luxurious, but each has a balcony and a small bathroom.
