Frommer's Review
One of Norfolk's two convention hotels (the Sheraton is the other) and its most elegant, this 24-story high-rise is connected to The Waterside via a covered skywalk. Its mahogany-paneled lobby is a masterpiece of 18th-century European style, with fine paintings, a crystal chandelier, potted palm trees, comfortable seating areas with gleaming lamps, and one-of-a-kind antiques. A magnificent staircase leads to a breakfast-only restaurant, a piano lounge, and meeting rooms on the second floor. There's a branch of Don Shula's Steakhouse and sports bar downstairs off the lobby. Guest rooms are sumptuously furnished with dark-wood pieces. Although the rooms do not have balconies, odd-numbered upper-floor units do have a river view. The indoor pool here opens to a sun deck overlooking the river.
Facilities:
2 restaurants; 2 bars; heated indoor pool; health club; concierge; business center; room service; laundry service; coin-op washers and dryers; concierge-level rooms

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
