Next door to The Waterside and overlooking busy Norfolk Harbor, this contemporary 10-story hotel has a more modern ambience than its main competition, the traditionally styled Marriott 2 blocks away. A three-story, light-filled atrium lobby gives way to two restaurants with outdoor seating and a bar with 30-foot windows overlooking the river. The spacious guest quarters are furnished with dark wood furniture. About a third of the units facing the river have small balconies (they're allotted on a first-come, first-served basis). Although the Sheraton draws groups and conventions, its location and facilities also make it a good choice for individuals, couples, and families.
