Mount Cranmore is the oldest operating ski area in New England. The slopes are unrepentantly old-fashioned, but the mountain has restyled itself as a snow-sports mecca -- look for snow tubing, snow-scooters, and ski-bikes. The slopes aren't likely to challenge advanced skiers, but the resort will delight beginners and intermediates, as well as those who like a little diversion with the ski toys. It's highly recommended for families, thanks to the relaxed attitude, range of activities, and budget ticket prices ($15 for kids 6-12).
