There are a few fun places to grab a drink in Lake Placid. Dancing Bears Lounge in the Lake Placid Hilton (tel. 518/523-4411) offers live music on Friday and Saturday nights from 8pm to midnight. The Lake Placid Pub and Brewery, 14 Mirror Lake Dr. (tel. 518/523-3813), brews up some good ales (try the Ubu Ale) and offers two floors of partying. Hint: It's quieter downstairs. Zig Zags, 130 Main St., Lake Placid (tel. 518/523-8221), is a fun place to drink for the under-30 crowd. And Roomers, 137 Main St. (tel. 518/523-3611), is the town's nightclub, where dancing lasts till the wee hours. But if your idea of a good time consists of cozying up to a fire with a nice glass of wine or fine liqueur, your place is The Cottage, 5 Mirror Lake Dr. (tel. 518/523-2544), part of the Mirror Lake Inn, set on the water across the street from the hotel. Inside it's quaint, and there's also an outdoor patio -- perfect in summer.
