The View

Like the Mirror Lake Inn to which it's attached, this restaurant is upscale, traditional, classic, and unfailingly excellent. The change from black-tie servers to a more casually attired staff better reflects the lake view out the picture windows. However, the less formal atmosphere doesn't mean a more casual kitchen -- the award-winning restaurant turns out seasonally inspired, consistently creative dishes accompanied by an equally impressive wine list. Start off with some warm duck pâté with candied leeks and lingonberry preserves, or a chilled lobster salad with cucumber foam, frisee lettuce, and avocado oil. Then dig into such fork-tender entrees as espresso-rubbed Black Angus filet mignon or a rack of lamb with Montrachet cheese and minted zinfandel sauce. The View is also open for breakfast.
