There's a sort of stuffiness here, which somehow lends to this rambling superhotel's charm. Games and sagging leather armchairs are in the lounge. Guest rooms are up-to-date, with some elegant features. The restaurant, with its wood-paneled walls and rich decor, is like a colonial officers' dining room. Guests can take the free hotel shuttle -- sometimes an old charabanc is pressed into service -- to and from the ferry dock.
