Danford's on the Sound

A sprawling resort right on Long Island Sound (and conveniently located in happening downtown Port Jeff), Danford's is its own Colonial New England-style village, imbued with a nautical theme. The spacious quarters, all renovated in 2008, are done up in navy blue and gold tones and come outfitted with comfy armchairs, mahogany furniture, flatscreen TVs, and granite spa bathrooms. Get a room with a view of the Port Jefferson harbor and it will be filled with light; balcony rooms let you take in the sea air. Restaurant Wave serves up New American food, and the lounge is about as swanky as it gets in Port Jeff -- though the crowd still skews older; as in "festive wedding-goers."
