En Route to the Beach--It used to be almost impossible to get beach-bound traffic on Ore. 18 west of McMinnville to stop for anything, but that was before the Spirit Mountain Casino (tel. 800/760-7977; www.spiritmountain.com) opened in the town of Grand Ronde and became the most popular casino in Oregon. These days a lot of the traffic on this highway isn't even going to the beach, it's headed straight to this large, glitzy temple of luck.
