The Avellan Inn is a small country inn that has just two guest rooms. From the outside, the inn resembles an old barn, complete with weathered cedar board-and-batten siding. Inside, however, it is nothing like a barn. Big walls of glass illuminate the breakfast area and a wood stove keeps the room nice and cozy in cooler months. Emily's Room, my personal favorite here, has a private entrance and a huge covered deck that, when the weather is clear, has a view of Mount Hood. When you stay here, you'll be within a 5- to 10-minute drive of several good wineries.
