Planning a TripGetting There -- Route 107 and Route 7 run along or near the coast from Dartmouth to Stillwater (near Sherbrooke). A patchwork of other routes -- including 211, 316, 16, and 344 -- continues onward along the coast to the causeway to Cape Breton. (It's all pretty obvious on a map.) An excursion along the entire coastal route -- from Dartmouth to Cape Breton Island with a detour to Canso -- is 407km (253 miles). Visitor Information -- Several tourist information centers are staffed along the route. You'll find the best-stocked and most-helpful centers at Sheet Harbour (next to the waterfall; tel. 902/885-2595; open daily in summer 10am-7pm); Sherbrooke Village (at the museum; tel. 902/522-2400; open daily in summer 9:30am-5:30pm), and Canso (1297 Union St.; tel. 902/366-2170; open daily in summer 9am-6pm). Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Please be sure to confirm all rates and details directly with the companies in question before planning your trip.
