Frommer's Review

Tucked away down a narrow path on a side street, this boutique hotel offers outstanding personal service and a Jacuzzi in every room. The Italian marble-accented open-air lobby and the tropical veranda set the scene for the beautifully decorated guest rooms, each with a marble entry, tropical-island decor, and a lanai wide enough for you to sit and enjoy the views. Another plus: All the rooms are soundproof. The suites are even more luxurious: either a king-size bed or two doubles, a fridge, a microwave, a coffeemaker, and a wet bar. Executive suites come with two double beds and a kitchen with microwave and full fridge, and the executive king suites add a separate living room and bedroom. However, a few downsides do exist: The 1960 hotel has had some renovations (new carpet in the rooms, new paint), but it still is an older hotel. The rack rates are on the high side (check the Internet for deals) for a minuscule pool and a 10- to 15-minute walk to the beach. And although there's a sandwich/coffee shop onsite, the food's nothing to brag about. Hot tip: Check the website under "e-specials" for rooms starting at $125.

Facilities:
Restaurant; bar (karaoke); outdoor pool w/dry sauna; concierge; coin-op washer/dryers

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
