Frommer's Review
In 2007, Hilton took over this 37-floor hotel, several long blocks from the beach and a few blocks from the zoo, and spent $50 million in renovations to make the former moderate Radisson hotel into a high-tech, 21st-century luxury hotel. However, I find the rack rates ridiculously high. This hotel is a 5-minute walk to the beach -- but at these rates you could stay on the beach! If you can find a good rate on the Internet (in the $200 range), then go for it; otherwise, you can get a much better deal elsewhere. Each of the sleek, modern rooms has high-speed Internet ($11/day), a flat-screen 42-inch high-def plasma TV with multi-media monitor for a laptop computer, game station console, video/camera, or MP3 player. The contemporary-design rooms feature Hilton's comfy beds, and the bathrooms feature marble and natural stone and top-end amenities. All rooms are the same; the floor and the view determine the price (from the 18th floor and up, the mountain views overlooking the Ala Wai Canal are spectacular and not as pricey as the oceanview rooms). Hilton has added a 24-hour eatery, MAC 24-7, which comes in handy if you arrive late at night.
