What I like best about this restaurant is that it offers some simple, classic Oaxacan dishes that are spurned by other restaurants in the city. The appetizer section, for example, has tlayudas and memelitas (the Oaxacan name for sopes), both rarely seen on restaurant menus. The soups are good as are the Oaxacan main courses. María Bonita occupies a house on Alcalá, 2 blocks north of the Santo Domingo. The three dining rooms are all simple, colorful, and attractive, with plain wooden chairs and tables.
