Frommer's Review
An O.C. favorite since 1939, this eatery began as an ice-cream parlor but is now a popular restaurant. The atmosphere is homey, with comfort foods such as fried chicken, roast turkey, and crab cakes. Lunch choices include sandwiches, salads, subs, and soups. There's a kids' menu; no liquor is served. Save room for dessert: Dumser's is still an ice-cream parlor at heart, with more than 20 sundaes. A second location with a more limited menu, Dumser's Drive-In, 49th Street and Coastal Highway (tel. 410/524-1588), is also open year-round. Both are good options for families. Three boardwalk locations serve ice cream only.
