This rustically elegant stone-sided 14th-century mansion is on a narrow street near the river. The original ceiling beams highlight the cozy, appealing interior. Owners Philippe and Pascale Bardau create virtually flawless cuisine based on modern interpretations of traditional French recipes. The creative menu changes with the seasons. In autumn or winter, savor the Loire Valley's abundance of wild game in dishes such as estouffade of wild boar with red-wine sauce. In spring, look for dishes such as ravioli of fresh morels with asparagus tips, roasted scallops with cured ham, and roasted baby goat served with tagliatelle and sweet garlic sauce. The staff is most attentive.
