Ucluelet has always had a tough time competing with Tofino when it comes to dining, but Fetch comes close. Sleek, modern, and cool, with swooping wooden room dividers in the dining room and low sofas in the lounge, it looks like it should be in a big city somewhere, not perched on the rugged coast. But you still get that great ocean view to remind you where you are. Expect lots of local seafood, with a wide-ranging global approach to flavor and preparation—everything from jambalaya to spaghetti alle vongole to mackerel grilled with harissa and salmon grilled with miso. There is definitely something for every taste. Perhaps the highlight of the menu, though, is the sushi in Float Lounge prepared on weekends by talented local chef Kevin Kimoto. Also expect a good wine list, perfect for enjoying on the sunny patio.
