After working at hotels, private clubs, and high-end restaurant chains all across Canada, Asia, and Europe, chef Richard Norwood found himself at the end of the world in Ucluelet, where he opened this little gem of a bistro. It is tiny, cozy, and very friendly, with an open kitchen where guests can watch chef create his magic. He sources as much as possible locally, and changes up his menus at a whim, depending on what he can find. That could mean mussels in Thai curry, pasta with braised lamb, steamed buns filled with pulled pork, or local halibut wrapped in prosciutto. The wine list features local and international wines carefully chosen to pair with his bold flavors, and the spiced-pear cocktail is a must. A terrific find.
