Frommer's Review
Formerly the Pacific Harbour International Hotel, and before that the Centra Resort Pacific Harbour, this three-story lagoonside resort is now Fiji's "coolest, sexiest, most stylish" hotel, to quote its general manager. In fact, it's so cool, sexy, and stylish that it would be more at home in New York or Sydney -- or even Suva -- than here beside a beach of deep, gray sand. Jazz music permeates the public areas, from the lobby bar before a waterfall wall to the huge day-bed loungers, where you can literally stretch out while enjoying a drink or reading a book. Each of the original hotel rooms also has a day bed on its balcony or patio. Some of them have been turned into luxurious, one-bedroom "Penthouse Suites," each with hardwood floors and its own decor. Dining choices include an informal restaurant, a fine-dining outlet, and a bar out by the beach and swimming pool, where Sunday jazz brunches draw crowds of well-heeled locals.
