Frommer's Review
"The Myrtle and the Rose" is no longer a strict vegetarian restaurant. True, it still serves some of the most flavorful vegetarian dishes in Palermo, made with only the freshest harvests from the fields; but these days, its customers are also treated to an array of well-prepared meat and fish dishes. It's set in an interesting Liberty-style building from the turn-of-the-20th-century Belle Epoque days; a dining terrace is open in summer. The North African-inspired vegetable couscous is the best in town, as are any number of rice and pasta dishes with tantalizing sauces. We'd also rank the chef's veal Marsala as the best in Palermo. If you want generous portions and good flavor, order the delectable grilled steak Florentine. Seasonal produce is always emphasized on the menu.
