This 17th-century manor house next to a nature reserve nestles in a lush mountain valley 15km (9 miles) from Palma. It was converted from a private residence by David Stein, a California tycoon and art collector. Apart from the setting, the hotel boasts works by artists such as Hockney, Stella, and Christoph, and there's even a small Chagall on one wall. A classical Majorcan aristocratic sense of decoration has been followed faithfully, with white walls, stone floors, and dark-wood beams and shutters. The rooms are spacious, and the most idyllic corner units on the top floor have a southern exposure.
