Frommer's Review
Although the acreage within the Palmas del Mar development contains thousands of privately owned villas, many of which can be rented or purchased outright, this is the only conventional, full-service hotel in Palmas del Mar. At least some of its business derives from newcomers who want to experience firsthand what Palmas del Mar is like before buying a villa. It was radically renovated in 1997, and again in 1999. None of the well-furnished bedrooms overlook the sea, but many have private patios or verandas, and most are roomier than you might expect. Each room has tile floors, tropical furnishings, large closets, fine linens, and either a king- or two queen-sized beds, plus a tiled bathroom with a tub-and-shower combo.
The resort has an Adventure Club for children ages 3 to 13. Supervised activities include crafts and sports, plus horseback riding for older children. For nonguests, the cost is $30 per half day or $35 per day, including lunch; it's free for guests. The beach, tennis center, and golf courses are close at hand. Palma's Café is one of the panoply of dining options here.
