Frommer's Review
The crazy popularity of this newer restaurant with the Panamanian jet-set derives more from the lively, 1950s Havana-style ambience than from the cuisine. La Posta has a gorgeous tropical decor, with whirling wicker ceiling fans and a plantation-style architecture, and although elegant, the restaurant does not feel pretentious. During the day, floor-to-ceiling windows separate the dining area from an outdoor patio (with outdoor seating), filled with vegetation, which provides for a bright and cheerful lunchtime setting.
Although La Posta is inexpensive for such a lovely atmosphere, the food is uneven, ranging from five-star to adequate. Stick with the seafood; the meat dishes -- especially the chicken -- are lackluster in presentation and concept. A good bet? Try the starters (there are more than a dozen, so you might consider ordering an assortment of these rather than an entree): yellowfin-tuna ceviche with capers; mero (a high-quality sea bass) carpaccio; or fried polenta with Gorgonzola and portobello mushrooms. The thin-crust pizzas are delicious, as are the risottos. Seafood dishes are tasty but simple, such as jumbo prawns with passion fruit and rice pilaf.
