This neighborhood standby is a plain-as-Jane diner with uniformed waitresses and a long list of Panamanian dishes of varying quality. It's the kind of place you go for a quick, no-frills meal, or to kill time with a cold beer while sitting on the outdoor terrace. It therefore draws as many locals as tourists who can't be bothered with a serious sit-down restaurant. Manolo's sandwiches are your best bet here, but there are also quick-fry steaks, grilled fish, and local dishes such as sancocho soup. Try the sugary churros (a cornmeal pastry with gooey filling) for dessert. Breakfast can be simple eggs or a Panamanian breakfast with eggs and tortillas. There are two locations, but I like the Vía Veneto diner the best.
