Combining a taste of Panamanian flavors and folklore, Las Tinajas is certainly one of the more touristy restaurants in town, yet it shouldn't be pooh-poohed by those searching for authentic regional cuisine. Las Tinajas features costumed folkloric performances which are enjoyable, not hokey. They take place while diners go about tucking into some of the best Panamanian food in the city. It's no surprise, therefore, that Las Tinajas ranks high on many visitors' itineraries, so make reservations. Classic fare such as ropa vieja (spicy, shredded beef over rice), carimañolas (yuca rolls stuffed with meat stuffing), ceviche, and creole-style sea bass highlight the extensive menu. Performances begin at 9pm on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and there is a $5 cover charge for the show as well as a minimum $10 consumption charge. An on-site gift shop sells handicrafts.
