Frommer's Review
A perennial favorite with tourists and business travelers for its self-contained, resort-in-the-city feel and comfortable accommodations, Caesar Park Panama is near the Atlapa Convention Center and a 5- to 10-minute cab ride from most sights and restaurants. Designed in a mock Spanish colonial style, with indoor fountains and arched doorways, the hotel has a lush, inviting outdoor pool fringed with palms; its upper-floor rooms have excellent city and ocean views, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops on the premises. The Caesar bills itself as a five-star hotel, but, though well rounded, it's not luxurious, and therefore would be four stars anywhere else. The service here can range from attentive (mostly the front desk) to practically nonexistent (the poolside bar). The concierge desk, presumably accustomed to shuttling out passengers in cabs because of the hotel's distance from downtown, can accommodate any request for transportation or tours. The restaurants are excellent, making this a perfect hotel to head back to, after a long day of play or work, for a breather and a "night in." Management is cagey about plans to "refocus" the Caesar's image; what this means is anyone's guess. Ask for discounts during low season; they have a lot of rooms to fill and if no convention is in town the staff seems eager to make a deal.
