Frommer's Review
Located on the edge of the city, near the Amador Causeway and fronting the ocean, this hotel lacks soul but is worth considering if you have kids, seek quiet accommodations and/or want plenty of space to walk, jog, or ride a bike. The Country Inn & Suites is a little slice of Americana -- for example, room service is provided by an adjoining T.G.I. Friday's. So if you're looking for a "Panamanian" experience, or if you want to feel the pulse of the city, this is not your place. The hotel has a view that sweeps from the Bridge of the Americas to the Causeway, overlooking bobbing sailboats and ships awaiting the canal crossing. The decor is country-style and guest rooms look like any cookie-cutter hotel room, but with tile flooring. They all have terraces and kitchenettes, though, and there is an irresistible outdoor pool and a 3.2km (2-mile) walkway along the coast. You'll need a taxi to get anywhere ($3-$5 -- if you can flag a regular taxi on the periphery of the hotel rather than take the hotel's taxi), or you can rent a bike and pedal out to the Amador Causeway for a meal. Insist on an ocean-view room -- it only costs $10 more, and the sparkling nighttime view of the bridge is the unique perk of this hotel.
