Founded in the years before World War II, at no. 16 rue St-Sabin, it received a vital new lease on life after the opening of the nearby Opéra de la Bastille. In 2003, it expanded into a second venue (no. 17 rue St-Sabin) just across the street from its original premises and did everything it could to replicate the spirit and decor of the original. To perk up business at the newer venue, management schedules live jazz every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 9pm to midnight. Both venues maintain the same hours and serve the same food at the same prices. Each is known for decanting obscure vintages from the Touraine and the region around Beaujolais and Bordeaux. If you're hungry, consider any of the generous plats du jour such as leeks steeped in vinaigrette or minced chicken with tarragon.
