Head to this little charmer in the fashion district if you want a reasonably priced place convenient to Les Halles and the Pompidou as well as to the Marais, with its shops and mix of gay and straight restaurants. It's a classically decorated hotel, evoking the era of Louis Philippe. Renovations in 2001 included the addition of a private bathroom to every room. The rooms are comfortable but rather small in most cases, except for the junior suites. Most of the rooms come with tubs; the rest, with showers. Skip the hotel breakfast (which costs extra) and cross the street to Stohrer at no. 51, one of Paris's most historic patisseries, founded in 1730 by the pâtissier to Louis XV.
