One of the neighborhood's best moderately priced choices, this hotel occupies a building constructed in the early 1600s, probably to house a group of guardsmen protecting the brother of the king at his lodgings nearby. It's in the heart of artistic/historic Paris and offers compact, soundproof guest rooms that were each renovated in 2005. All but seven of the bedrooms have tub/shower combinations; the rest have only showers.
