Frommer's Review
This mansion in the heart of St-Germain-des-Prés was the site of the city's first literary salon. Fully restored, it is today one of the best of the luxe boutique hotels of Paris. It's graced with original Aubusson tapestries. Lying 2 blocks south of pont Neuf and the Seine, the hotel has taken over a former private residence from the 1600s, to which is attached a 1950s building. It opens onto a beautiful courtyard. You enter a grand hall under a beamed ceiling with a baronial fireplace and furnishings in the style of Louis XV. There are also a number of smaller, more intimate lounges. The bedrooms are midsize to large, each attractively and comfortably furnished, often in a Directoire style and sometimes with exposed ceiling beams. Antiques are often placed in front of the original stone walls. For the most traditional flair, ask for one of the rooms on the top two floors. The best units are labeled deluxe, and these are quite large and graced with canopied beds.
