Review of Le SancerreEnter this rustic place in the center of the chic and moneyed 7th arrondissement and -- with its aging furniture and wooden bar -- you'll think you've been transported somewhere in the countryside of the Loire Valley. Lovingly cared for by friendly, equally aging proprietors, this place specializes in -- what else -- Sancerre wine. There are other vintages as well, include chinon and saumur wine (both from the Loire Valley) among many others. The plates are as countryside as the decor: andouillettes (chitterling sausages), Loire cheeses, fresh oysters, and fresh quiches galore. Glasses of wine cost 4€ to 7€; simple platters of food cost 7.50€ to 16€ each. Open Monday to Friday 8pm to 4pm and 6:30 to 11pm, Saturday 8:30am to 4pm. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
