Though some visitors consider the Bar du Crillon too self-consciously elegant, its social and literary history is remarkable. Hemingway set a climactic scene of The Sun Also Rises here, and through the years it has attracted diplomats from the U.S. Embassy as well as visiting heiresses, stars, starlets, and wannabes. Sonia Rykiel decorated the bar. Another option down the hall is the Edwardian-style Jardin d'Hiver, where you can order tea, cocktails, or coffee.
