There are dozens of other bars and cafes near this one, but none maintains a bookstore in back, and few seem so self-consciously aware of their roles as ersatz literary salons. Come for a glass of wine and participation in a discussion within what's defined as "a literary bar." It's named after a pulpy 19th-century romance (La Belle Hortense) set within the neighborhood. Glasses of wine cost 3€ to 7€ ($3.90-$9.10). Open daily 5pm to 2am.
