Planning a TripGetting There Most visitors fly into Salt Lake City International Airport and drive or take a shuttle to Park City. Driving time from the airport is about 35 minutes. At I-80 exit 145, take Utah 224 into Park City. Park City Transportation (tel. 800/637-3803 or 435/649-8567; www.parkcitytransportation.com) offers frequent shuttles from the Salt Lake City airport and hotels ($58 round-trip). Lewis Bros. Stages (tel. 877/491-8111 or 801/359-8677; www.lewisbros.com) offers transportation from Park City to Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons ($70). All Resort Express (tel. 800/457-9457 or 435/649-3999; www.allresort.com) also serves the area. Visitor Information The Park City Chamber of Commerce/Convention and Visitors Bureau, 1910 Prospector Ave. (P.O. Box 1630), Park City, UT 84060 (tel. 800/453-1360 or 435/649-6100; www.parkcityinfo.com), is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. It operates a visitor information center at 1826 W. Olympic Pkwy. at the entrance to the Utah Olympic Park near I-80, open daily from 9am to 6pm; and another center in the Park City Museum, 528 Main St., open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 7pm and Sunday from noon to 6pm. Step Back in Time -- Be sure to pick up a copy of the Park City Main Street Historic Walking Tour brochure at the visitor information center. It will lead you to 45 buildings and historic sites that have somehow managed to survive fires, hard times, and progress through the decades. The historic walk, complete with engaging anecdotes, really brings the town's lively past to life. Getting Around Parking in Park City is limited, especially in the historic Main Street area, and it is just plain awful if you're driving a motor home or pulling a trailer. If you've arrived in a car, the best plan is to park it and ride the free city bus. There's metered parking (in effect 11am-8pm) along Main Street, and there are fairly large parking lots near both the upper and lower ends of Main Street. If you still want to rent a car and brave the parking problems, rental agencies here include All Resort Car Rental, 1821 Sidewinder Dr. (tel. 800/457-9457 or 435/649-3999), and Enterprise, 6560 N. Landmark Dr. (tel. 800/736-8222 or 435/655-7277). Park City's very efficient free transit system offers several routes throughout Park City and the surrounding area, daily from 7am until 1am. The Main Street Trolley links Main Street and Park City Mountain Resort, and public buses travel to the outlying areas. Pick up the Transit System Guide brochure for a good route map and specific schedules. The weekly booklet This Week in Park City contains helpful info plus several area maps, including one of Main Street. Both are available at the visitor centers and many lodgings. Fast Facts To take care of injury or illness, go to Park City Family Health and Urgent Care Center, 1665 Bonanza Dr. (tel. 435/649-7640; www.parkcityclinic.com), or Snow Creek Emergency & Medical Center, 1600 Snow Creek Dr. (tel. 435/655-0055). The main post office is at 450 Main St. (tel. 800/275-8777). The local newspaper is the Park Record, published every Wednesday and Saturday.
