Cross-country and powder skiing are the Okanagan Valley's main winter attractions. Intermediate and expert downhill skiers frequent the Apex Resort, Green Mountain Road, Penticton (tel. 800/ 777-2739, 250/ 292-8222, or 250/487-4848; www.apexresort.com), where 56 runs are serviced by one quad chair, one triple chair, one T-bar, and one beginner tow/platter. The 65km (40 miles) of cross-country ski trails are well marked and well groomed, offering both flat stretches and hilly ascents. Facilities include an ice rink, snow golf, sleigh rides, casino nights, and racing competitions.
